To retake the kingdom, David assembled an army. From each tribe came:

Judah 6,800 1 Chr 12:24
Simeon 7,100 1Chr 12:25
Levi 4,600 1 Chr 12:26
Aaron 3,700 1 Chr 12:27
Benjamin 3,000 1 Chr 12:29
Ephraim 20,800 1 Chr 12:30
Manasseh 18,000 1 Chr 12:31
Issachar 200 1 Chr 12:32
Zebulun 50,000 1 Chr 12:33
Naphtali 38,000 1 Chr 12:34
Dan 28,600 1 Chr 12:35
Asher 40,000 1 Chr 12:36
Reuben, Gad, Manasseh 120,000 1 Chr 12:37

Of 337,800 warriors only 200 had it said of them they “understood the times with knowledge of what Israel should do”

That is .059%. That is one out of every 1695 men.

The men of Issachar left everything to join with David. They came probably the greatest distance to join up. They were at greatest risk of not sending even a remnant home after the casualties of war. They laid it all on the line.

Unlike their warrior comrades they brought wisdom not brawn or numbers to the battle. Over 337,000 other men depended upon their wisdom and stood to benefit from the risk they took. God retook the kingdom, restored peace, and no doubt used the sons of Issachar as His instruments. (He would not have made such a dramatic mention of them had they not been instrumental)

God uses special men for special times. Wise visionaries. Has He been preparing you for today’s times? Will you stand in the gap? Do you grasp what must be done to retake the kingdom from the pagans? To turn the church from its infatuation with the world? Are you one of the men of Issachar? Stand up. Give hope to those around you who need it. Fasten your eyes on Jesus and lead out.
